Michael is a writer, editor, and educator based in Oregon’s Willamette Valley.

The recipient of a MacDowell Fellowship and a Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference Scholarship, his poems appear or are forthcoming in Best New Poets, The Cincinnati Review, The Greensboro Review, The Iowa Review, The Missouri Review, Narrative Magazine, Ninth Letter, North American Review, Oxford Poetry, Subtropics, and Third Coast. He holds an MFA from the Helen Zell Writers’ Program, where he won a Hopwood Award and received a Zell Fellowship.

He has taught creative writing at the University of Michigan and Interlochen Arts Academy, where he was Poet in Residence, and is currently at work on his debut collection.
